How We Started and Why We’ve Never Left
We started RUC Insurance because we saw what was missing. After decades working inside an agency that kept its product line narrow and its conversations short, Steve Nichols did what his instincts had been telling him to do for years: he opened his own. That was 28 years ago. The goal was never to be the biggest agency in Moreno Valley. It was to be the most useful one the kind of place where a business owner could walk in and talk through their general liability exposure, then ask about life insurance for a key employee, and get a real answer on both. Today, we offer over a hundred carriers across personal lines, commercial lines, life, health, Medicare, dental, and more. We built that depth because our clients need it.
The legacy runs deeper than RUC. Our affiliated agency, Jay Pogue Insurance, has been serving the Inland Empire for 52 years. The clients who found us through that agency over the decades are still with us today and that kind of continuity says everything about how we operate.
What We Do Differently
Most agencies sell a policy and move on. We treat every transaction as the beginning of an ongoing conversation. When your renewal comes up, we look at it with fresh eyes. If a better option exists across our carrier network, we bring it to you. When a claim happens, you don’t navigate it alone our team walks you through the adjuster process, answers your questions, and makes sure you know what to expect at every step. That’s not a premium service. That’s how we’ve always worked.
We also know that not everyone banks the same way or schedules appointments on weekdays. We accept in-office payments for clients who prefer it, and our team remains reachable after hours for clients who need us. These aren’t accommodations we added because someone asked. They reflect the kind of agency we set out to build from day one.

RUC Insurance is an independent agency headquartered in Moreno Valley, California. Our team Steve, Debi, Maria, Roxanne, and Jared serve clients across California, Arizona, Nevada, and Texas. We’re licensed, independent, and positioned with access to more than 100 insurance companies so we can match clients with coverage that actually fits.
Our primary lines include auto, home, motorcycle, life, business insurance, and commercial auto. We also write renters, workers’ compensation, flood, mobile home, Medicare, dental, health, disability, and bonds. Whether you’re a family protecting your home or a business owner managing commercial risk, we have the carrier relationships and the experience to help.
Rooted in the Community
Serving Moreno Valley and the Inland Empire isn’t incidental to what we do it’s the whole point. Many of our clients have been with us for years. Some came through the Jay Pogue agency and stayed. Others found us when they needed help with a question no online portal could answer. We’re here because this community is where our work matters most, and we intend to keep showing up for it.
